      — Well, possibly. Komaeda had no idea how his disease worked, and if it could be transferred like that. (That was partly his own fault, since he never listened to the doctors when they spoke to him about both illnesses.) But even with his shrinking and decaying brain, he knew not to tell her that in the interest of staying alive

Fortunately, it worked. She removed herself from his torso and he was finally free. The first thing he did was stretch his arms to try and get some of the feeling back in the them. Who would have thought she had such a strong grip..! Slowly he pulled himself up into a sitting position, almost hesitant to look into her eyes. Especially with that stare she was giving him. Shudder.

Now, while he recognized it wasn’t a good idea to tell her he had no idea if his blood would kill her, it didn’t realize that fleeing the scene was a good one. Instead of getting to his feet, maybe toss her a parting word or two, and returning home to his sleeping soldier, Komaeda sat there. Mind reeling from the event that just unfolded. She was hungry, right? She was letting him live and was going to find someone else. Trouble was, it was extremely late. Hard to find other people out there at this hour.

…Maybe… He would push his luck a little more.

“…Thank you,” Komaeda said quietly, dipping his head down partly. Half to hide his smile, and half to show his gratitude. “As thanks for sparing my life… I’d like to help you. If you’ll accept it, I mean.”

          || { † } As he sat up and wisely chose not to run away, Homura pulled her gaze from him and directed it to the ground beneath her fingertips. It wasn’t like she wanted him to stay for his blood anyway. She just felt as if she’d be mildly annoyed if he just up and left like that, despite how she had just come seconds to ending his life.

There was a long silence, the air surrounding them still holding a degree of tension, while the vampire wondered whether he would eventually leave anyway. He had to, right? She’d spared him. After some moments, it was almost as if she wanted him to go before she took his blood nevertheless.

Thankfully, he spoke. And what he said half-surprised Homura, but then again, she’d half-expected him to say something of that nature. An unpredictable, self-sacrificial boy like him…of course he’d have little qualms with passing on the curse. Though, she raised an eyebrow anyway.

❝…Really? You could just leave while you can, but instead you choose to stay and assist your almost-killer? …Not that I’m going to reject your offer, but one has to wonder why you’d even want to help some…thing like me. Especially after I just…❞

The words she spoke were still monotone, but quieter, and the last sentence found itself trailing off.
