|| { † } There’d been movement from upstairs, thankfully. After a good half an hour of waiting downstairs and thinking over her remaining possibilities, Homura sensed Hitomi awake. She’d brought her back to her own home, laid her on her bed, tended to her wounds and perhaps magically healed them if it helped distract the girl.
There’d been shifting from the room, as if Hitomi had been thrashing wildly. Homura contemplated checking on her earlier, but something told her that she was to be alright. Why was she so concerned about her, anyway? When Hitomi awoke, there was a large chance she’d see Homura and attempt to run once again, back to safety and probably to the authorities. She was right to, anyway. There wasn’t much blaming her.
So, the vampire had been planning to take Hitomi from the room and return her to her own house now that she’d been taken care of. Of course, that plan was scrapped on realisation that said girl was awake. Homura stopped in her tracks and decided to wait until Hitomi became accustomed to the fact that she had been brought to a home that was not hers. Judging by that scream, she wasn’t sure how long to estimate her wait.
Once things had settled, Homura decided to pick herself up and try again. Placing a hand on the door handle and pushing it down, she could almost feel the tension on the other side; Hitomi was clearly on alert. The Magi decided to open it anyway. In the room she found Hitomi, sat with various items grabbed from her surroundings held in defence. Homura tilted her head, choosing her words carefully.
❝ Shizuki-san… Thank goodness you’re awake. After that injury,
I wasn’t sure if you’d recover this fast. I found you, injured and
unconscious on a street, and brought you back here, ❞
– She lied smoothly, with hushed words containing nothing but truth.
Homura closed the door behind them, switching the overhead light on to gander a better look at the girl in her room. She didn’t appear too bad. Still dirty and shaken from earlier, with dried bloodstains patching unkempt clothing. The Magi raised a hand, trying to let her know that she had no intention of hurting her.
Hitomi’s words were peculiar. It was almost as if she didn’t remember the attack at all. She wasn’t sure whether this was a blessing or a curse, but for now, she decided to go along with it and make her new plan up as she went. For this length of time, she’d been under the impression that the green-haired would have remembered…
❝ What you were doing out there at such hours is beyond me, but
it was too late to return you home. Hopefully the bleeding has
stopped. If you’d like a hot drink, I can prepare one for you.
I’m sure you may have more questions…❞
She opened the door once again, and pointed behind her down the stairs. Beckoning the human to follow.
