|| { † } When something that looked like a knowing gaze washed over Hitomi as the girl looked into her own eyes, Homura couldn’t help but flinch and draw her line of sight away. All it would take would be one glance and the memories would hit Hitomi back again, something Homura wasn’t too keen on being in the room for. However when her eyes flicked back, she noticed disbelief fill the green-haired’s expression – to her relief.
❝ … I did not want to wake and worry your
family. I thought I would be able to
treat you here and return you before
morning, but I didn’t anticipate your
waking. I apologise for any discomfort. ❞
Every word was not a lie, but it wasn’t exactly ‘truth’ either. Homura’s tone was light, quiet, with a hint of friendliness curbing it. She wanted to appear naturally hospitable, after all. As for the mention of her parents…the vampire chose to ignore that and move on.
A small polite smile curved her lips, with the intent of calming the girl down in her new environment.
❝ From a fall like that, it’s no wonder that
you must be disorientated. Of course,
Shizuki-san, whatever you need.
Would you perhaps like me to bring
it up here for you? ❞
Hitomi’s natural panicking was wearing at Homura’s patience slightly, but what else could the former do? Accept that the new transfer student had just found her on the street, carried back to their house and treated her without any mention to her family? The only thing Homura could really do in response was to sit back and let her fret.
❝ It is the early morning; I doubt they’ll be
awake. If you’re really that worried, we
can call them when you’ve had a drink
and perhaps a bite to eat.
Your phone is…downstairs, Shizuki-san.
I kept it in case you were to wake up and
call someone without being told of where
you were first. ❞
Keep her unknowing, yes, good. Homura had to think over her strategies. The police’s involvement would be a bad move, so letting Hitomi’s parents know that a stranger had taken her home wouldn’t be preferable. Sure, Homura could just use the excuse that she didn’t know where Hitomi lived, but once authorities were involved it tended to be bad news from there.
Homura turned back to Hitomi and motioned behind her downstairs once again, mentioning that she’ll take a moment to prepare the tea and retrieve her phone for her.
