|| { † } For a moment, Homura was stunned into complete disbelief. A small part of her still wanted to believe that Sayaka was bluffing, but as soon as that girl had been brought into the conversation, there was no risking blindly letting these threats go unnoticed.
And then when the taunts had been uttered… that was when she knew she couldn’t hold back her anguish any longer. It felt as if Sayaka had plunged a dagger deep into her flesh and tore open the wound, ripping out the entrails and wearing them for pleasure. Unpleasant memories of Madoka’s mangled corpses (so many corpses, so many corpses) flickered across her vision, before Homura blinked them away with an angered scowl. Unforgivable. There wasn’t even time to consider over the rest of the words being spoken. Unforgivable, unforgivable, unforgivable.
❝ Miki Sayaka. I do not care much for who or what you are, but I will not allow that to happen. If you seek confrontation, then now is your chance to achieve it. If you were looking for a joke, then now is your chance to run. ❞
With a flash of purple, Homura had already whipped out her ring and transformed. Fine. I’ll play this twisted game. Let’s see what this demon wants.
|| { † } Her bottom lip curled up in disgust. Whatever had happened to Miki Sayaka, it had turned her into a being that was nothing short of ‘vile’. Was she actually searching for violence? This masquerade had been played far too seriously and far too long for the blue-haired to be joking.
Homura was just about to dismiss her and walk away, away from this madness, away from the taunting snickers, before Sayaka finished an inescapable threat. Suddenly, her feet rooted to the ground, arms suddenly frozen at her sides. The vampire took a sharp inhale, before tilting her head and contorting her emotionless expression into a forbidding glare.
There wasn’t any use denying that there was a certain someone that Homura would kill for, as Sayaka had mentioned.
Sayaka’s amused grin fell just that fast, eyes staring Homura down rather eerily. “I pissed you off just now, didn’t I? Don’t tell me you’re trying to change your brash, amusing ways already. You’re more fun when you’re being an idiot.” She commented snidely.
She was in fact trying to provoke Homura. Trying to coax that first move out of her. Not that Sayaka needed it, but she did enjoy reacting to the initiation much more than she did actually being the initiator. “If you don’t like my behavior, I fully expect you to try and do something about it.” She leaned closer, sneering a bit with narrowed eyes. “Or are you really the little cowardly bitch that I always figured you were?”
{ † } Well, that definitely settled her curiosities. Homura’s stone-faced glare remained unchanged for the most part, but a visible fury had diffused across two, intensely fixated violet hues. It was as if her irises had developed their own enthralling gleam to them. She almost flinched at the attacks, noting how sudden and uncalled for they had been.
“Miki Sayaka…what is your will? What do you wish to gain from delivering such insolence towards me?”
There was a rougher edge to her tone now. Almost as if she was somewhat struggling to contain whatever was rising with her. Homura definitely didn’t want to respond in the way she knew Sayaka wanted to;
had to maintain her magic, keep her energy balance under control,
don’t lose control, don’t blow your cool.
"…Do you honestly feel you want to start something with me that badly? That won’t be such a good idea, I assure you,“ No matter how she couldn’t assure herself, seeing now how it was practically confirmed something had happened to the blue-haired that was beyond her.
Perhaps playing along with her ‘game’ was the only way around this.
“Court jester? What a funny image. But see, you do have business here. Because I say you do. Is that a little clearer, at least?” Sayaka tilted her head, not seeming to care about the slight malice behind the way she formed her words.
“Don’t be a spoilsport. You’re more entertaining to me when you’re being your usual self. You know. Obsessive, irritating, bratty even. That would give me so much more to poke at, really.” Provocation. Sayaka wasn’t even trying to hide it with the way she just spoke to Homura.
"Come on now, where’s that weird loner who always points guns at my face, hm?”
— ’Obsessive’? ’Irritating’? …’Bratty’?
Although the time traveller had been called worse in the past, there was a twinge of muted anger within her. What did Sayaka even want? From the taunting way she delivered her verbal attacks, Homura deduced that perhaps she desired something a little more simpler than…‘business’.
The way Sayaka carried herself tonight… it wasn’t right, she’d assumed that much. Never had she been this confident without the presence of a single doubt in the midst of the raven-haired girl. Perhaps Homura should dedicate more of her time focussing on the difference of Sayaka herself rather than how she was affected by it.
Yes, it was something in her blood. But what?
"If you’re keeping me here merely to point unintelligent jabs, then I’d quite frankly rather be anywhere else.
If I didn’t know any better, then I’d say you were trying to provoke me.”
…For reasons unknown. All Homura wanted to do was avoid conflict, and it appeared that Miki Sayaka was determined on initiating some.
No, no good. Homura couldn’t leave. No one could just find her, and then leave like that. She was bored. Homura wasn’t leaving.
“I’m sorry. I should have clarified.” Sayaka rushed over to Homura, fingers reaching out and taking a hold of the raven haired girl’s sleeve. She stared at Homura, a small grin on her face as she tilted her head. “I am your company for the night, Homura. That’s what I meant. I’m bored, entertain me.” She demanded childishly, frowning a bit after she said that as she continued to keep her odd gaze on Homura’s hues.
“I doubt you have to get anywhere right now. Everyone says that when they don’t want to hang around anymore. What a silly lie.”
—What on earth–
Homura let out a disgruntled exclaim of surprise as her sleeve was suddenly tugged. Apparently, she was halted in her tracks. For some reason, Sayaka didn’t seem to be too keen on letting her leave, which was certainly perplexing. What could she possibly want…?
That eerie gaze Sayaka had settled upon her sent something of a s h i v e r down the course of her spine. Homura didn’t like being unaware for one moment. What nerve did the cerulean-haired girl possess to confront her in such a forward manner? Homura drew a breath. Sayaka’s scent was definitely…off. But what with? Corruption? No…something told her that it ran deeper than the capabilities of a magical girl.
So, like {her}, perhaps? No. Couldn’t be.
"I…don’t believe I understand, Miki Sayaka,” Homura began sternly, pulling herself free from the oddly determined grasp. “‘Entertain you’? I am not here to play court jester. I’d appreciate it if you’d be more specific.”
"–And I wasn’t–
…Very well. If you wish for me to stay, then so be it. I don’t know what I can offer you, however; I have no business here, myself.“
Too many quiet nights. Sayaka needed some excitement now that she was out of her slump. With how long it had been, the blood running through her veins had pretty much grown quite assimilated to its host, Sayaka and the dark blood having an eerily settled relationship, it seemed.
Not that it would be immediately noticeable to another magi. Unless they could pick up on tainted magical signatures. Not that Sayaka’s felt like a witch. But with the blood infecting her soul gem as well, her magic wasn’t the healer’s original magic. It was heavily tainted, with what felt like corruption, yet wasn’t the kind that caused a magi to witch. Considering Sayaka’s soul gem no longer really corrupted any further than it was when she was initially taken by the blood, it was really a confusing situation for someone else to witness.
Her interested eyes scanned the dark haired, familiar magi in front of her. “…A-ke-mi-san~Hm, how can I help you this fine, quiet night, hm?”
—–Miki Sayaka.
A familiar magical face. To be rather honest, Homura had been spending the night on a lazy hunt to satisfy her mild thirst until her path had crossed with Sayaka’s, who apparently was enjoying the low-lit atmosphere at her own comfort too. Interesting. Homura never thought her to be the type to linger on street corners during the early hours.
The uniform-clad Magi wasn’t entirely sure what it was, but…there was something that chilled her about Sayaka tonight. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
"…Miki Sayaka,“ Homura declared indifferently, tilting her chin in acknowledgement. "What a surprise to see you here tonight. Thank you for the offer, however, in answer– I’m quite contented in my own company. That being said, I must be going now.”
And so she began to shift to make her silent leave.
This blog is rather set on dark and emotionally-heavy themes, focusing particularly on Homura’s descent into madness and how her own mind and lust for a completed goal has twisted her into a literal monster. As you can tell, this is an AU of sorts. Think Homura's ability to unconsciously warp reality in Rebellion; that sort of logic applies here.
The key thing to remember is how Homura is not a vampire in the traditional sense--rather something halfway between a Magical Girl and a Witch. The part of her that demands life energy to survive comes from her Witch side. This is explained in full in the details page.
This blog is multifandom and selective, meaning that I will interact with mutuals only. I always check out followers' blogs and their rules, but I may not necessarily always follow back. This is not because I do not like your blog or your character, but most likely because I cannot see our characters interacting, or too much OOC content is posted. I appreciate OOC interaction, however!
The main set timeline for this blog is ‘Homura has just transferred into Mitakihara’ upon initial interaction. Something also worth mentioning is that for a few hundred timelines in Homura's universe, Walpurgisnacht hasn't happened, and so is unlikely to happen in this one.
Multi-ship. Each ship/interaction will take place in its own timeline. I generally don't romantically ship Homura anyway, but when it does it will have to happen with chemistry.
No smut will happen on this blog. Any heated situations will fade to black once intimate enough. Besides, Homura's physical age is that of a minor.
Anything that could trigger in particular (that is not to be expected with the nature of this blog, eg. blood) will be tagged. Though if anything regarding Vampirism wigs you out, I really don't recommend following for the sake of your comfort.
Homura can’t be killed, and even in the rare instances where she does ‘die’, she is immediately resurrected by her magic. Therefore, please do not try and kill her and expect her to stay dead. See here for more information about why that is. However, she can be badly hurt/incapacitated-- though please try to tell me before you plan on doing so.
Unprompted greeters/starters tend to throw me a bit, so please tell me beforehand if you want to interact! Whether it's a personal message or a like of my starter call, I don't mind, as long as I'm aware of it first.
All icons, graphics, ideas, etc are mine and are not up for grabs. I have spent a lot of time and effort into developing this muse so if anything is stolen I will probably be very sad :'( Please do not take anything without asking me first. Art credits are listed in my credits page.
I am very forgetful so please be patient with me. I'm somehow great at losing threads so come talk to me if you've been waiting on me for a while and you wish to continue.
Concerning the Mun: hello, my name is Andy! I'm an aspiring musician from the UK. My pronouns are She/They and I'm in my late teens. I'm a student in college and I work a job, so as a result I may be quite busy most of the time. However, I have a skype and a personal blog that can be asked for should you wish to reach me!
Did you know that magic can manipulate your biology?
For my best friend.
If it's for her, what I become does not matter anymore. What I make myself does not matter anymore. I am a monster, but at least with some excuse.
- In Summary -
This Homura is a Half Magical Girl, Half Witch, plus borderline insane as a result of the horrors she has witnessed in repeating the same month over and over hundreds of times. She was the one who brought her 'Vampire' act onto herself by unwittingly manipulating her own mind until it became a hell she had no choice but to live.
- Vampirism -
After ten years of being lost in time, the sand in Homura's time shield finally ran out- stripping her of her main source of magic. However, her goal of saving Madoka still hadn't been fulfilled. The only way she could carry on and keep living was to sacrifice her own life energy for the exchange of more magic. Though, using such powerful time magic warranted the consumption of plenty more energy than she already had-- thus began her drinking of human blood to replenish her power over time and, in turn, her own life.
Her thirst for blood is really a thirst for the time energy in an unfinished human life. Homura didn't want to admit how far she had fallen, so she subconsciously created the lie that she was a 'vampire' around herself as a coping mechanism. Over time, her biology warped --and she soon found herself completely dependent on only blood to survive.
Homura has lost the ability to die. Until her wish of saving Madoka is finally granted, the potent karmic destiny that has been accumalating around her for so many years will always bring her back to life without fail. For this, she has no choice but to keep travelling in time and pursuing her goal -- however ambiguous it may be by now.
- History -
Taking a life to keep herself living was an act that Homura initially thought she could never forgive herself for. Her first kill for blood left her traumatised and almost caused her to fall to despair. Though she knew she couldn't give up on her task, so she kept going while being merciful when she could.
At some point, she was caught by an underground institute that had been monitoring Magical Girl activity, whilst she was stealing weapons. She spent the month captured and tortured for information --constrained so she couldn't use her magic to escape. She learnt the hard way of the differences between Magical Girl and human after enduring such torment and, after seizing a chance to finally escape,
A bloodbath had resulted of her first 'snap'. After the rampage, she wanted to accept that she was a killer but knew that if she realised what she truly was it would be enough to make her go mad. And so her 'vampire' façade began to subconsciously stage-- to give herself an 'excuse' for killing people both for survival and progress, an excuse which meant that Madoka's will would not go ignored.
- Existence -
Homura doesn't think of herself as 'alive' anymore, and therefore doesn't value the lives of others as well as her own. She believes that her true death took place when her time sand ran out. She is callous, cold and merciless and cares only for some certain others. After her month in captivity, she has developed a loathing for mankind as she's realised the extent of human greed and the truth behind their nature. Her only purpose now is defeating the Incubators, being at a futile war with fate.
Occasionally she has been known to use and toy with the feelings of others for her own personal gain, including using them as a free meal and a 'release' for surpressed emotions. This is usually done without remorse.
- Strengths -
Beautiful and dangerous, Homura Akemi is clever, athletic and incredibly mysterious. As both a Magical Girl and a 'vampire', Homura is in no doubt powerful. Having lived for so long, she is experienced with her magic and weaponry. She is very fast with incredible reflexes. Her keen perceptions have adapted to be able to sense the strength of blood and energy around her. She is shrewd, calculating and determined, and will stop at nothing if she has a goal.
She has the magic ability to freeze time once in her Magical Girl outfit, and to use her shield to reset the timeline back one month once things go awry enough. She also has the ability to travel and manoeuver quickly with ease. Homura has fangs (which she uses magic to conceal), and when hungry or irritated enough, her eyes might also glow a deep shade of red. Her power of hypnotism is in development, but she has the natural ability of manipulation within her.
- Weaknesses -
Homura's main weakness in terms of magic is being constricted. Although she's strong, if the binds are tight enough, she cannot use her magic to get herself out of the situation. This kind of circumstance leaves her very vulnerable -- but fortunately for her, not many have figured that out yet.
Her other weakness is how easily exhausted and irresponsible she can be after using bouts of her magic, especially if she's low on blood. For this, she will hunt and drink quite regularly--leaving plenty of opportunity for enemies to attack while she is weak/hungry. She hunts during the night as, while sunlight doesn't burn her, it tends to drain her of her energy. Inspired by vampire lore, she is sensitive to religious imagery and holy water. If staked, she will be sent into a state of comatose until she can be nursed to health with blood by whoever can find her in time.
The more tainted her soul gem, the more hysteric and insanity-driven she will become. A completely grief-consumed gem means chaos and bloodshed for Homura and everyone around her until she can drink enough blood (though the required amount of blood to return to some degree of sanity tends to result in destructive mass murder -- much like what happened in the Facility).
Destroying her soul gem would not affect her; it would just reform. Homura physically cannot die, for if she is killed, her karmic automatically brings her back to life (most of the time against her own will).
Halfway between a Magical Girl and a Witch, Homura fights to stay sane, using the guise of a 'Vampire' to deter her mind from accepting what she truly is. Having looped for what could be over a century's worth of years due to the Incubators' sadistic game, she does wonder how much longer she can keep trying to save Madoka before inevitably succumbing to bloodlust.
SUBVERSE 1- VERSE V
VERSE SHARED WITH FANCIULLAVERDE. VARIANT OF MAINVERSE.
Fighting with Madoka has its consequences as Homura finds that her affections have somehow shifted onto a certain green-haired rich girl, Shizuki Hitomi. Of course Homura would deal with that by trying to kill said girl, albeit surprising herself when she finds she can't stop saving the one who's already dug her pristine and proper nails into the Vampire's zombified heart.
SUBVERSE 2- VAGABOND
VAMPIRE HOMURA TAKES ON A KYOUKO SAKURA LIFESTYLE.
In which Homura has given up on enrolling into Mitakihara High, and now wanders the city streets instead. Hoodie-clad and technically unregistered, Homura lives dedicating her time to hunting Incubators and snacking on yet more civilians. She's developed a tendency to be capricious, and is almost never seen without a smirk and an unhinged gleam in her eye.
V2. IMMORTAL
TEXTBOOK VAMPIRE VERSE. TIME MOVES IN LINEAR AND MAGIC IS UNHEARD OF.
Born as a young orphan girl in 18th century Edo Japan, she was sired seventeen years later by an individual only known as "Q". Standing the trials of time and witnessing the dawn of a new world, Homura walks the Earth today as a Creature of the Night -- the Vampire. Unaware of the magical world; most of her encounters take place after sundown. Homura's personality mostly resembles Akuma Homura in this universe. Her reasons for pursuing the maiden known as Kaname Madoka are unknown.
V3. MODERN
COLLEGE AU. HUMAN, UNFORTUNATELY.
Homura, 19 years of age, an apathetic nerd who likes grape juice and also to pretend she's undead (the aloof and mysterious disposition helps) mainly so she doesn't have to deal with the reality of how she's stuck with The Roomate From Hell and a forever-unrequited crush on that pink-haired girl down the hall.
